It's quite weird to see...

a Trending link over on the right to an old Table Manners column from 2008 about bringing your own plastic containers to work. How is a long-dead Chow column "trending" here?

    1. So here's a question-> does CH have control of the algorithm that populates Trending?
      It really looks like Trending pulls code words and ignores creation date and number of replies.

        If your theory is correct, if we keep responding using the term "trending" then shouldn't this thread become the most trending thread?

      2. There was a thread on that issue just recently. Trending is based on recs.

        As explained when announced:

        Somebody's recommending old comments, it seems. Of course, they did say they might be tweaking how it works, and we don't have all the criteria. Would help keep spammers from manipulating the site to some degree.
