Claus Meyer to Open Nordic Food Stalls & Resto in Grand Central Station
I am a big fan of "New Scandanavian Cooking" on Create and Claus Meyer. But I wonder how this will fly in Grand Central?
Is Nordic food a fad or is it here to stay?
A few days ago on Create, I happened upon Claus, picking rhubarb (he says the lower part of the stem is the most tender and sweet (huh?). He loaded it into an old wooden box carried on the handlebars of the bicycle he then pedaled, in a serpentine pattern crossing the center line of the country road, from field to castle, while singing "Proud Mary". Then he leaned against a wall while munching a rhubarb stalk as if it were celery. This week his cocktail recipe was to put a coin into a coffee cup, add hot coffee until the coin disappears, then aquavit until it reappears. Down the hatch! I'm a fan of the show mostly for comic relief, as most of the concoctions all three hosts create seem weird if not downright repellent.
However, I don't underestimate the power of The Emperor's New Clothes syndrome.
They're going to have to sell a hell of a lot of cloud berries and aquavit to sustain what must be astronomical overhead. Best of luck to them but I'll believe it when i see it.....
