Turmeric leaves

  • 6

...anyone know where I can find turmeric leaves in San Diego? I have an indonesian recipe I'd like to make. I thought if one of y'all know where to find some, then I don't have to search the whole county.

  1. Maybe check with Penzeys?

    1. Penzy's might have dried turmeric leaves. (Just checked their website and didn't see them, though.) Worth a phone call.

For fresh, you might give Balboa International Market a try. Stehly Farms and Ker Fresh are other possibilities.

      1. Try Vine Ripe market in La Mesa. I've seen tumeric root at the Whole Foods in Hillcrest, not sure about the leaves. Also call Specialty Produce and ask for it.

        1. I'd ask at an Indian grocery store. The one in "Little India" off Miramar near the 15 has the most fresh produce I've seen, though their general stock was disappointingly low last time I was there.

          1. I was at Balboa Int. Market today and checked. No turmeric leaves, not fresh, frozen, or dried.

Then, while in the area, I decided to go up to Ker Fresh (now called World Market and Produce), but struck out again.

So, I guess those two can be crossed off the list of possible sources.

Oh, and by the way, I also stopped into the Albertson's on Balboa on the way back, which has a surprisingly respectable selection of fresh herbs. No luck there, either.

Please post if you do find whole turmeric leaves somewhere in town.
