Craving jalepeno poppers

Would be much obliged if someone could point me in the direction of a sinful, gooey, cream-cheese filled popper, preferably with some kind of funky dipping sauce.

  1. I want them too...

Swank, have you ever had peanut butter stuffed jalapeno poppers?? Life changing event...

I had them once at El Parador in NYC

You might want to try the Cut Mirchi from Curry N Wok -- obviously not quite the same, but spicy peanut stuffed deep fried peppers.

As for the original question -- I've never had the jalapeno poppers at Rudy's but they're good at sinful + gooey in general.

Not surprising as they're fried, but make sure you get them there, not as food delivery.

I realize that wehenver I order a fried tidbit for delivery that I'm taking a risk, but this was the worst preserved fried item I've ever had delivered to me.

    2. Due to quality control, I am not recommending but mentioning a wonderful popper at Commonwealth BBQ in Wrentham. It is not cream cheese but when made proper is a gooey cheesy meaty (brisket or pulled pork?) cornmeal battered and fried heaven. However we once got them not cheesy enough, and once got them not meaty enough, and once got them over the top salty. But when they're right they are a stuffed jalapeño revelation. Served with a kicked up ranch type sauce.

      1. Can't help you with cream-cheese filled (don't crave them), but I would like to know who has excellent cheddar stuffed jalepeno poppers. Burrito Max in Kenmore used to make awesome poppers that were little nuggets of cheddar dotted with chopped jalepeno. Fantastic, but alas, now gone. The meat and cheese ones sound pretty goo, though.

I am obsessed with jalapeño poppers and do prefer the cream cheese filled, however, Vito's Tavern (North End) house-makes their poppers and they're really delicious:

JALAPEÑO POPPERS Made from scratch with fresh roasted jalapeño peppers, cheesy and crispy with creamy guajillo chile salsa and sour cream – 8.99

The filling is some sort of cheddar blend. The creamy guajillo chile salsa puts them over the edge.

I think Vito's food is underrated in general (food only - atmosphere and service are another story). They have some goopy random stuff on their menu, but they're one of the only (if not the only) non-Italian places in the North End that house makes most of their sauces, dips and dressings from scratch. We go there when we want quality American food in the neighborhood.

        2. I haven't had them, but Howling Wolf in Salem has bacon wrapped cheese stuffed Jalapenos.... Known in the BBQ world as ABT 's

          1. It has been a while but when I was in college I would drink at the bar and eat poppers at "The Village Smokehouse" in Brookline village. I didn't have much else there. But, they make the poppers in house and they are really good.

Are they filled with cream cheese or cheddar cheese?

I remember it being cream cheese. I haven't been there in 2 years because it is kind of a lack luster place outside from the poppers.
