Cheese mixes

Surveying the fridge for a late night snack, I discovered a container of guacamole right next to some fresh chèvre cheese. Serendipity, I thought, so I mixed some together (half and half) and applied the mix to some crackers. Yum.

So, can you suggest some other great cheese+? combinations for snacks? (Cream cheese and chives is too easy.) There must be some secret recipes out there...

  1. I have an unnatural fondness for this (literal) hot mess: rice, grated cheddar, chopped tomatoes, black olives & pickled jalapenos. Not-chos?

    1. I had some creamy blue cheese spread (kind of like cream cheese, only blue) and for some unknown reason was inspired to dip a chocolate mint cookie in it. It was divine!

Ruth, this reminds me of the time I made le bete noir verrrry Chocolatey cake and impulsively ate some with freshly made (not by me) blueberry cream cheese. I cannot tell you how delicious it was. Wow.

      2. Don't know how widely this is available (it's a Chicago product), but my favorite cream cheese mix-in is hot muffaletta mix, chopped olives and other vegetables in a spicy oil. Delicious on crackers or bagels.

Second favorite is a creamy blue cheese blended into cream cheese.

          To me Giardiniera is Chicago.

          Muffuletta is New Orleans.

We love soft plain goat cheese and gochujang

        2. cream cheese + dark chocolate covered matzo + peanut butter

goat cheese + caramelized onions and peppers + fresh arugula + toasted bread

Probably too obvious but I love a raspberry honey with cream cheese on a bagel. Also a nice tangy lemon curd with cream cheese on another bagel. A bagel with strawberry jam and cream cheese will do in a pinch :-).

Roasted red peppers zizzed up with a good sheeps' milk feta is a mighty fine savoury option.
