quick question: is it forbidden to make a reference to a locked thread?

Happened to me I think, my comments and even worse the comments of some awesome hounds were also deleted and was just wondering if I broke a rule or the summer interns were just being over-zealous or something? I got no email notifying me of deleted comments.

  1. Not a wholesale policy, AFAIK, but if your post had the effect of repeating the locked post, it WOULD be pulled.
You might want to double-check that the thread in question wasn't just moved to another board and that's why you're not finding the other missing comments.

    1. You can email the mods and ask about your specific case.

      1. When we've locked a particularly rancorous thread, we really don't want people to reopen the subject and start the discussion back up, especially when the lock was recent and people's tempers are still flaring.

We particularly don't want on topic threads to be pulled off topic by a discussion of how a thread was moderated, and that's usually what happens when people raise those kinds of points.

          I disagree with this policy-
why not open discussion in an off, off, topic discussion board.
It is obvious that ppl want to discuss the problem even though it is not about food.
Chowhound should be flattered that so many ppl felt comfortable enough to voice their opinions.

I hear ya, but what is gained by the discussion of food.

Because it doesn't feed into the "TMZ'ing Frenzy" of CH?
