I'm going to be driving from NC to St. Louis on Saturday and Knoxville should come up right about lunch time. Can anyone give me some suggestions of good eats not far off of I-40?

Thanks,
Ezra

At either the Strawberry Plains exit off I-40 or the Cedar Bluff exit off I-40 (SE corner), Puleo's is a local restaurant chain with good food in a peaceful environment.

Start with their Fried Green Tomatoes (on cheese grits with a red (usually Andouille) sauce and a white sausage sauce.

Then anything from a small pizza to fried catfish .......

I can confirm that Puleo's has some good eats. We had dinner there a couple years back and were very pleasantly surprised. Pehaps because I went in with lower expectations.
I really enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits.

Tomato Head would be an excellent choice (either location).

Right off the 40 in downtown would be Crown and Goose....great burgers! http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/68/730395...

I agree with Puelo's for lunch. They have a pizza and salad with homemade dressings special at noon.
