Mario's New Adventure

Ah, the rich and famous. They just keep on ticking . . . . . . .

  1. They should call it "Troppo Mario."

    1. I wonder about their concept of 'experts':

"Talent will include new chefs at Batali restaurants, YouTube stars, bloggers and other experts"

Really. On Twitter, Mario is very defensive about his staff when anybody complains, so maybe that's the leading edge here (ala Thomas Keller). YouTube stars and bloggers are a bit dubious, but offering cooking/chef programming from Oz would be nice. I'm currently hooked on "The Gourmet Farmer" from Tasmania.

      2. (Batali plans to be on camera only 20 percent of the time)

        Insert weight-to-time ration snark.

        1. Argh, the first of an onslaught of "let's program to the kids!"
I checked with several "millennials" that I know well.
Most didn't know Batali at all, and the others think he's old, out of touch, and corporate.
          >>Batali chose OgilvyEntertainment as a production partner because they’ve successfully collaborated before, such as last year’s online video series celebrating the 100th birthday of Hellmann’s mayonnaise. “[Ogilvy] knows what’s out there, what feels fresh, what is fresh,” Batali said simply.<<
100 yr old mayo -- now that's FRESH!!
          He should stick to MySpace.

Mario may be behind the curve…Food and Wine created the FWx site which is geared to Millennials and there are a few Youtube channels, producing original content, that also target them. They offer short cooking segments featuring live music, travel and special guests. Tastemade and Frankie Cooks are two that I like, and then there’s the Hungry channel, on which I can’t find anything to like.

I can promise you that those heels do not appeal to me...once I hit my 40's I stopped torturing my toots.

Huge "not a fan" of Nadia G. Her schtick gets very old very fast.
