Shipping Champagne

Hi everyone,

I just had two cases of champagne shipped to me, is this a bad idea?
Should I expect any of the bottles to crack? Or when I open the champagne, will it "explode" like a shaken soda can?
I have no experience in shipping any kind of alcohol, so I'm a little bit worried. If anyone can help, that would be so great.
Thank you!

  1. Considering that Champagne is shipped around the world from France I can't see why there should be any problems.

Presumably you won't be opening the bottles immediately on delivery and at very least you'll chill them before opening, again I don't see why you should have any problems.

If you bought a bottle of fizz in your local store and took it carefully home, you don't know that ithadn't been put on the store shelf 2 minutes before you entered the store after just being delivered from a shipment of thousands of miles.

Let it rest after delivery, chill the bottle before opening, have a glass redy to pour into and take the usual care in opening - such as cloth over bottle neck while opening - and you'll be fine. Enjoy
