25 people near Grand Central, $25-30 (w/o alcohol)

Looking for a restaurant that ideally would have a private room for 25 people near Hyatt Grand Central (or a short cab ride) for a Friday dinner in a month. A private room is preferred because we'd like to have a speaker. Prefer a set menu so everyone knows what they're going to pay. These are people from other states, most on a budget, who will not know each other. Last time a dinner like this was planned, people argued for half an hour over the bill.

So thinking maybe $25-30, (not counting drinks), pizza could work. I found:

The Perfect Pint (says they have a private room)
Mangia
Naples 45

Any thoughts about these or does anyone have other suggestions?

I think Naples 45 is serviceable pizza.

Kellari taverna has "semi-private" space that could work for you as well as a pre theater pre fixe menu- call and see if they would do the pre theater menu for your group.... A few blocks from grand central

Naples 45 serves a nice pizza, but doesn't have any private rooms -indeed, it's a large, quite (hard &) noisy space. Probably not what you're looking for.

EDIT: Osteria Laguna two blocks down 42nd from the Hyatt does have spaces at the back that can be curtained off from the rest -they might accommodate you.

Osteria Laguna quoted the organizer $100 per person with no alcohol in a curtained off area. This may be out of the price range for some of the participants.

Did you already contact the other suggested spots?

Angelo's pizza (thin crust) is a bit further on 2nd ave and 55th but their site lists a private room and says they can accomodate groups...

Or, Szechuan Gourmet on w 39th could work, not sure about a private room though...

Look into Hill Country. It'd be a short cab ride or about a mile walk from Grand Central. Everyone gets a card on which the servers mark what they ordered and what they owe. No fighting over checks. From their website, "Hill Country has several semi-private alcove spaces for smaller groups of up to 25 people."

Important to understand that it's not fully table service. There are servers that bring drinks and such, but all food is served at manned stations, which often have a line.
