Agriturismo in Emilia-Romagna

  • 5

Hi all,
My wife and I are young professionals traveling to Emilia-Romagna in late September/early October for 3-4 nights. We would love to stay in an agriturismo with great food as a base for exploring the region. Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Exploring other threads on this topic, one suggestion that keeps popping up is Agriturismo Podere Prasiano. What do folks think of this place as a base with great food to explore such a great region? We are also debating renting a car or getting around by train. Any suggestions on that front would be much appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.

  1. If you want to have access to the ER countryside, best to rent a car.

    1. If you want to explore any area other tha one of the major cities you will want a car. Antica Corte Pallavicina is one place you might want to look at for part of your stay (its in the NW corner of the region, on the Po river, near Bussetto and has a fine cuisine, as well as associated restaurants offering slightly different fare... Food is hearty in this region - if you want to eat at a variety of places an agriturismo with meals included might not be the best choice unless the food is of the high quality..

Many thanks for the helpful response. On a related note, can anyone recommend a good tour company or tour guide for a foodie day trip through E-R?

you could contact Carmelita who is in Bologna, the photos of the food she prepares during cooking classes are fantastic. I believe she used to run food tours but I don't know the present situation https://www.facebook.com/carmelita.ca...

      2. Take a look at SloTrav.com for accommodation reviews.

And I can heartily recommend Osteria Giusti in Modena for lunch. Four tables and reservations a must.
