Lunch spot in NOTL? Need help

  • 11
  • Share

Celebrating an anniversary in NOTL in mid August. Booked some bike rentals for the monring near Main St in NOTL and doing a Whirlpool Jets in same area in afternoon. Looking for a NICE lunch- price moderate to more pricey is fine. Was looking at a winery (specifically Ravine) but not sure I have enough time (appx 1.5 hr max)
Any other suggestions near Main St in NOTL to have lunch on a Saturday?

Thanks in advance!

  1. I don't think there is a Main St in NOTL so not exactly sure where your bike rental is located, but maybe you mean Queen Street which is the main drag. That said, NOTL is pretty small. I would recommend Treadwell for your lunch. Ravine is a 10-15 minute drive from NOTL.

Thanks Midtowngirl. Sorry I didn't know the name of the main st. but I think you are right it is Queen....and you understood I meant the main drag.
        I will look into Treadwell!
thanks to you and Charles for reco...

        Also welcome others.

Treadwell would be my one and only recommendation on the main drag of old town.

If you want a winery nearby, however, Peller Estates is only a couple of minutes outside of old town and they have a lovely restaurant overlooking the vineyards.

You won't go wrong with either for a special lunch.

Have you tried Charles Inn or Strewn's Terroir La Cachette more recently?

            1. re: Food Tourist

Charles Inn is part of the Niagara's Finest Inns group, which includes the Shaw Club. In my experience, dining at Charles and Zees Grill will get you a decent meal in a nice setting. The price points are similar to Treadwell and Peller, both of which have much better food.

I haven't been to Terroir la Cachette yet, though it's on my list to do soon. My local friends say they like the pasta and pizza there.

I've always enjoyed Zees Grill. I'd recommend it.

          + 1 for Treadwell!

        3. I really love the "sparkling brunch" at Peller Estates on the weekends, but their lunch is pretty great too. The food is always inventive but not bizarre and if the weather allows, a meal on the terrace is as celebratory as you could get. It's a 5 minute drive from where you probably have to wind up and if you told them you had a 1.5 window, they'd get you through it without trouble. Treadwell provides a very nice meal, but I think you're looking for an occasion, which brunch at Peller definitely is.

          1. Had lunch at Terroir La Cachette on the patio on Sunday. Food is average. Bison terrine was the highlight. Wines by the glass are quite expensive but the red Three 2007 is lovely. We will stick to Treadwell in future. Lunch for 2 with 3 glasses of Strewn wine and no dessert was $100.

            1. Treadwell Farm-to-Table Cuisine has opened a wine bar in Niagara-on-the-Lake. "The space, formerly occupied by the Silver Screen, is located across from the restaurant and seats 30 guests in a fun, comfortable atmosphere. Some of the features of the new wine bar include
An exciting array of Niagara wines by the glass
              Multiple wine flights
Delicious food options sourced from Treadwell restaurant
              Open late
              Wine tastings during the afternoon
The wine bar will be open every day this summer, with last call at 11:15pm (Sunday thru Thursday) and at 12am (Friday and Saturday). Food options will be available until this time."
