This is a big splurge for me diet-wise so I want one that is worth it. Any suggestions? Will travel. Thank you.

Are you looking for strawberry shortcake (the biscuit) or strawberry layer cake?

Hi , thank you. The biscuit type preferred. But will also go for the layer cake.

I haven't had the biscuit kind from a NYC bakery and the last time I had it was in upstate NY.

Strawberry layer cake is excellent at Baked in Red Hook but they rarely have slices, you'd probably have to pre-order and buy the cake.

Canelle in Jackson Heights has a very nice strawberry cake and is reasonably priced.

Tomoko Patisserie makes an amazing strawberry cake but only available by the cake and pre-order, no slices.

Bonelle in Forest Hills has strawberry cake but I'd call them first before heading over as they don't always have it.

These are some of your best bets in the outer boroughs.

PS - Please report back if you wind up finding a strawberry cake you like or if you try any of the above places. I love strawberry cake.

Du Bois Pastry on Broadway in Elmhurst makes an excellent layered strawberry cake.
