Where to find best preserved sausage with rice in hot pot in Toronto?
Bowl Kee at Peachtree plaza (Kennedy & highway 7) specializes in hot pot rice and hot pot dishes. Open for dinner only. Not much ambience but lots of wokhay in its dishes and always crowded. Make reservations.
Best version we had though was at Lai Wah Heen. Very high quality meats used.
My experience at Bowl Kee was plain bad and totally forgettable. Unlike you caitlink, our stirred fry dishes lacked wok hay and tasted rather bland. Hot pot rice are passable in general. Overall, pricing is on the high side for this type of food and set up.
With Lai Wah Heen changing hand I think Fung Lam Court is a safer bet nowadays.
I would also wait till fall and order them from places like Emperor, Yang's or Spring Villa. Some might even be able to serve you some using 'Hong Kong Made' sausages!!
