Best nachos in lower Westchester County?

I'm having a craving for nachos. I make them at home once every few years, but don't feel like shopping for all the ingredients and have so much leftover. Where do you recommend for super flavorful, spicy, meaty, jalapeno covered, cheesy nachos with guacamole, salsa, and sour cream?

  1. Forget it...make them at home and deal with the leftovers...
Once you taste them you will remember why you
go to the trouble of making them at home, even if only once a year.
Otherwise I recommend sitting outside at Bartaco and
ordering just guacamole and chips...Bartaco pics attached.

    1. Salsa fresca in mamaroneck has a nacho platter- called fire on the mountain. They are sort of a chipotle clone, but I prefer them. Also there must be some places in port Chester

      1. Ditto to bartaco. I was there Friday night and it seems the guacamole keeps getting better every time I go. My favorite place for nachos in Port Chester is Los Gemellos.

Byramgirl...can you describe the nachos that Los Gemellos serves. I have not tried them or seen them being served. DH and I are always looking for a good plate of nachos. I am more than willing to give Los
Gemellos a shot If they are decent... I don't necessarily go right to Mexican when thinking nachos.

What came to mind when I read "super flavorful, spicy, meaty, jalapeno covered, cheesy nachos with guacamole, salsa, and sour cream?" Was Americanized tex mex or bar food. I have not found a single non Mexican restaurant in Westchester that uses house made ingredients to make their nachos. Usually it's bagged chips, processed cheese, tepid chili...hence the bartaco suggestion and the pain of making them at home :(

Run don't walk to Los Gemellos! Everything there is great, and the prices are remarkable.

They've also opened a chicken place around the corner from the taquiteria. Haven't tried it yet. Anyone have any reports?

Thanks Elisa515...we have been to Los Gemellos but have not ordered their nachos. I do agree that everything we have eaten there thus far has been delicious.
Thank you for the heads up regarding their new chicken place. Please let us know when you try it, if you obtain any additional information such as name and location please share as well.

It's literally right around the corner, on the side street. Called Los Gemellos Pollo.

            2. re: chowdom

Los Gemellos' nachos are more "individual" chips than stacked. They're house-made chips layered with refried beans and cheese, with jalapenos on top and salsa, sour cream and guac on the side.

I went to their other location around the corner, Pollos al Carbon, about a week ago. The chicken was delicious and a bargain at $5 for half a chicken and a side of rice. I don't think I would go back for their "margarita." It was a big glass of tequila with a few ice cubes and a Bud Light Lime-a-Rita on the side.

Always happy to read love for Los Gemellos. It really is a gem and now I'm even more excited for my next visit to try their nachos.

We've also tried their chicken spin off, probably when it first opened last fall or winter. We enjoyed (I'm admittedly not such a rotisserie chicken fan) but on our one visit, they had their music pumped up so high, that we could barely concentrate on our food!

Yup...bleeding ears at Kiosco across the street too, although the worst I've encountered has been Roberto in White Plains downright intolerable. Thanks for the heads up. I don't do loud well so I will more than likely do take out.
