Can't get to drop down under avatar, top right

My name has been replaced with my avatar in a circle at the top right of the page. When I roll over the avatar a drop-down menu displays "My Profile", "Settings" and "Sign Out" if I try to roll down over it it disappears. If I double click on the avatar I get to "My Profile". Once I managed to get the drop down menu to stay open by clicking it once or twice or three times but I can't get it to do it again.

Firefox, latest version. Windows Vista Home.

  1. I gave this a shot in Firefox on Windows 7 and wasn't able to reproduce it thus far: for me, the drop-down sticks around as intended so long as the mouse goes straight down from the profile image to the menu.

To rule out a few possibilities, could you please try restarting Firefox with add-ons disabled (under the 'help' menu) and trying the drop-down again that way? If that still doesn't address the issue, could you please take a screen-shot of your browser window with the drop-down open?

    1. Hi hal2010.

We were able to reproduce this and we're looking into it. In the meantime, if you're able to use Chrome as your browser, the rollover works correctly there.

      Thanks for your report.

      1. Thanks,

        Same issue with add-ons disabled.

I managed to get the drop down to stay once by going perfectly straight down but it was tricky.

I figured out a work-around. I left click on the avatar and hold, then drag the cursor down over the menu. You then see the avatar with the little "do not enter" circle with a line symbol over it. Then when you release the mouse button the menu stays and you can select from it.

Or if I move from the avatar to the drop down really quickly I can sometimes get it to stay.

Same issue for me on a Mac using Chrome. I have a big D with circle on upper right. It recognizes correctly what "My Boards" are.

            Hi Dave Feldman.

We're not able to reproduce any dropdown issues in Chrome with OSX. Are you still seeing this happening? If so, are you moving your mouse straight down from the round avatar or are you moving it left and down, toward the beginning of the text in the dropdown? If you mouse too far left, the dropdown does disappear because that equals a "mouse away."

As for the "D" you're seeing, that's the default avatar. If users haven't uploaded an image on their profile page, then a default image appears that displays the first letter of a user's username.

Last night when I got home and noticed that the format had changed a bit, I was doing the same thing. I'm pretty sure that people are mousing over to the words "My Profile", which is causing the pop-down to disappear. The only way to get the mouse-over to work was to mouse straight down. I think most people's inclination is to mouse over the actual words.

It's working tonight for me just fine and I'm not able to replicate the problem from last night. I am not unhappy about that. :-)

FWIW, from a design standpoint, I like the change.

Thanks for the update, and the positive words.

          2. It's working better now, thanks. Although it seems to be one of the last things on the page to load so it won't show when you roll over your avatar until all the images and ads show up.
