This went out about 2 hours ago-- so fairly certain spaces must be gone but worth a shot?

  1. I did just post on the Top Chef-Boston Food Media thread that Tom Colicchio had just posted the same info on his Facebook page, so perhaps not full yet.

Or perhaps they're looking for the "right" beautiful people to put on TV. :-)

    1. hope a hound makes it. I'm camera shy. Where are they shooting/hosting?

I suspect the entire thing will be covered by some form of NDA?

I'm not sure I'd want to do it, not because I'm camera shy but rather because the Restaurant War experiences usually seem fairly shoddy. In any case, based on a quick Twitter search it looks like they had PLENTY of applications. "Please let me taste cheftestant food!" (*ugh*)

        1. re: davis_sq_pro

          Guaranteed there's an NDA.

      2. You also have to be available all day Saturday per the info they sent me. No thanks.

You heard back? I emailed this morning and didn't hear back. What time did you email?

          1. re: VintageMolly

Emailed at 10am. Heard back at 12:30. Wanted my Facebook, Twitter, photo, why I'm Top Chef fan, favorite judge.

            1. re: mkfisher

Damn, emailed at 9:45, no response. Pre-screened for my low twitter follower count already?

              1. re: mkfisher

I got the same email. I am up for it! Completed the answers, attached the head shot, sent it in. Should be interesting! :)

                1. re: Small Plates

I guess it should not surprise me that they want photos. It is tv after all. There go my chances.....

                  1. re: smtucker

As I said - the "right beautiful people", as determined by their production staff.

                  2. re: Small Plates

I'd probably have been automatically disqualified if I said my favorite judge was Anthony Bourdain. :-)

                    1. re: LindaWhit

I would vote for Krista Simmons on Top Chef Masters...

                    2. re: Small Plates

Got the email, sent my response! Fingers crossed!

                    3. re: mkfisher

Crap, I just saw the announcement over on FB and sent in my email. No response. I suspect they've already picked everyone by now :/

                  3. re: mkfisher

All day? Ah, the joys of television. Thanks for the insight :-)

                    1. re: davis_sq_pro

I'd suspect that additional diner reaction shots are done then - or the commentary about various dishes.

                  4. I didn't get a response ....

Not sure what would happen if they saw my facebook page

I just love your Dump Cake. Actually your whole Dump line: big fan right here.

                      2. I just sent in my email. Maybe I can still get in. I think I am their type.

I'm definitely their type! They wanted super fans, so I think I'm a shoo-in:

                          > Paragraph about why you're the biggest top chef fan: "I've actually sat through a couple full seasons. Maybe two. And a few episodes from another season."

                          > Your favorite judge: "The guy with the hair?"

                          > Your favorite past top chef contestant: "Wait, this is the hair guy. I guess for judge I meant no hair."

                          It's a lock for me.

                        2. A friend got an Email at 9 p.m. last night for Saturday (all day)...so I wonder if they did film RW or if they'll be doing so on Saturday.

I got the same email last night requesting more info and pictures of me. Here's hoping they like what they see!

                            1. re: Karl

Just keep the nudes relatively tasteful and I'm sure you'll be a shoo-in!

                          2. I applied for it. Still waiting to hear.

Anyone hear? I responded to their email last night with no response...if they want us there all day, I'd think they would let us know by now

                              1. re: Amberjane

Concise, enthusiastic email sent Thursday - not even acknowledgment, much less response - why would they want to reinforce fan loyalty and leave a positive impression in Boston? Email is so expensive, after all...and it's so tricky to set up those darned autoresponders...

                                1. re: rlh

To put this in context, this work is done by over-stressed PA's who are paid pennies (if paid, because on reality TV they sometimes are interns). They get no thanks. They get dumped on all the time. They work absurd hours trying to fulfill requirements made up by people who don't imagine how much effort is required to get this done.

                                  1. re: lergnom

No blame directed to the poor PAs at all, though I guess you do often get just what you pay for - I paid nothing to send the email and they pay their people nothing to ignore it...no harm, no foul - it just won't happen to me again, and I still don't hold reality TV in high regard, but will watch it anyway...

                            2. I find the whole execution rude, from the announcement to asking people to jump thru hoops, to keeping them on hold and expect them to stay on call on a wonderful weekend day.

I enjoy the show, but this was not thoughtfully planned with respect to the fans that would want to participate.

                              my opinion

Todays Globe states that the show received 16,000 applicants and crashed the email account . That may explain some of the lack of response.

                                1. re: Msample

Just heard this on the radio as well and came here to note the same thing as to the lack of response.

                                2. re: Bellachefa

That's just how TV is done, sorry to say.

My partner has been an extra on many tv shows, movies and commercials filmed here and in NYC and hoops, hold and on-call is how they roll.

                                  1. re: C. Hamster

It's not much better working on the production side in network TV.
