Grad dinner

  • 5

Looking for a place to take our U of T graduate out for dinner to celebrate. Can't be too expensive, but nice, and within about a 10-minute walk of Convocation Hall. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  1. Harsh. Not unrealistic, but harsh.

10 minutes is a big ask, so I'll be aggressive with walking speeds. I'll also assume that all cuisines are in play.

Bar Mercurio is a place that exists and serves food that is Italian and not particularly expensive.

There are a number of restaurants on Baldwin St that are a 10 minute walk from some part of U of T, I am sure, such as Agave Y Aguacate (Mexican) and Matahari (Malaysian). Both relatively inexpensive. There are also some euro and French-ish places like Midi Bistro which is fine. Cafe La Gaffe is also French and I've been there for a grad dinner, so it works for that.

Otherwise, um, The Oxley is 10 minutes from the north end of Philosopher's Walk and is not crazy expensive. Both Harbord Room and THR and Co. are 10 minutes from the fitness center which is a part of U of T, but may push your price range.

      Thanks!

    2. Mercatto in the Mars building on College and Elizabeth and Midi Bistro on Baldwin/McCaul are reasonably close, reliable, and won't break the bank. Congrats to your graduate!

Thank you ct198 - I appreciate your response.

      2. Torito Tapas Bar on Augusta in Kensington Market and Frank at AGO on Dundas are both 10 mins away.
