Is there a local non chain casual seafood restaurant in the clearwater area. Prefer picnic table on the beach kind of place.

Looking for good local seafood in casual setting. Staying in Clearwater. Will be back and forth to Tampa, so anything there would be good also.

  1. Bait House. Very casual. Clearwater beach. Parking lot for cruise ships. No fryolator! Beer & wine. Fresh!

did they reopen after the fire? Last time I drove by there were no cars or activity noted

I googled for information and another site which shall remain nameless had a line from someone who tried to go there "2 weeks ago" (Maybe Memorial Day weekend, or so, 2014?) He said they need to re-build- no food, guys. Open for drinks and bait only. (So you'd have to agree- currently very very very casual. But I won't count it on my dining out list for quite a while.)

Interesting. I called a couple of weeks ago and was told they were open. No mention of no food

    2. You want Frenchy's. It has five locations, but they're all on Clearwater Beach, so it definitely isn't a nationwide, highly-corporatized chain in the Red Lobster sense. It's casual, laid-back, and "beachy," and the food is awesome, no matter which one you go to. (I'd recommend Frenchy's Rockaway Grill, the largest location, which is right on the beach.)
