Cheap local joints (food, drink, etc) to take a first-time St. pete visitor?

My friend will be visiting me for a couple of days from South Carolina, and although he has spent time in Tampa and Orlando, this will be his first extensive stay in St. Petersburg. I am a St. Pete native, and have compiled a little list of my own, but I wanted to reach out and get some more ideas of places I can take him. Here's what I am looking for:

- On the cheaper site
- Local favorites (want to avoid touristy places)
- Bonus if the establishment has been around for a while

Thanks, hounds!

  1. How cheap is cheap?

    1. My casual and moderate price favorites are probably already on your list but:
Seafood - Mid Peninsula Seafood on 49th St. S.
Current fave - Cuban sandwich or roast pork dinner at Bodega on Central. Take food over to Green Bench Brewery and enjoy with some of their beer.
Burger - El Cap on 4th St. N.
A little further afield but I love Greek food and my favorite in the area is Greek Village next to Seminole Mall. Always excellent, great roast lamb.
      Hope that helps

      1. I recommend Ben Thanh very highly. It is hard to get this quality Vietnamese food anywhere (and I live in nYC half the year).

        1. How is the Taco Bus in St. Pete? I saw it on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and we've wanted to try it ever since.
