  1. Sura on Robson.

Did you get a response about the dumplings (not XLBs) ? Same occasion ?

At least IMHO, their kalbi is good. Is your occasion for lunch or dinner ? IF lunch, check out their $15/p or $20/p set meals ..... great variety of items and 'nuff food to feed an army. Robson location >> Richmond location IMHO, but servers can get quite busy so don't feel shy to flag them down as if you're hailing a cab in NYC ;-)

There are many other places I'm sure where the kalbi is good. I was gonna also suggest Chosun in E. Van (Kingsway) but the place is cramped, feels very dated and service is meh at best. Food is good, 'tho, fwiw.

Do note that Chosun has two sibling restaurants: Yakinikuya Chosun (793 Jervis St) and Gyudon Ya (500 Robson St)

Sura is most consistent imho. The Richmond location is decent as well. The beef was good and the seasoning was rounded and balanced. Personally I prefer more punchier and stronger flavor profiles.
Chosun is more homely and the Galbi was good but everything else wasn't unfortunately.

My experience at Chosun was smoky. As in, their ventilation system wasn't enough to rid the greasy smells on my clothes which were still there long after I left the restaurant :-(

      2. I would second Sura for really tender and delicious kalbi downtown.
