5 days at the Four Seasons Scottsdale. .

Going for business and pleasure and looking to host a business dinner at Talavera at the resort...anyone been?
Anything else around the resort that is great for lunch/dinner?

  1. Been to Talavera a bunch of times. Chef Mel Mecinas is a wonderful man and kicks out some super, serious dishes.

Proof (Chef Jesse Hanson) is upscale comfort food (think poutine with foie gras) and also highly recommended. The bar at Proof is very good.

The resort is in a pretty remote area so nothing else is that close. There are a bunch of restaurants in the Market St complex that might meet your needs.

Not too far away is Bourbon Steak at the Fairmont Princess. Great steaks and I think I like their seafood selection even better.

      Thanks Bill!
Been to Bourbon Steak at the Fairmont Princess for happy hour and that was impressive.

Good to know about Proof for comfort food and drinks.

      2. Head a little south to the northeast corner of Pinnacle Peak & Pima - there is a great place called LAMP Pizzeria. Wood-fired goodness, open for both lunch and dinner (closed Mondays).

          Love a good pizza. .
Have you been to The Parlor on E. Camelback in the Biltmore/Arcadia good and great setting.

          1. re: Beach Chick

Yes!! I really like The Parlor - their cauliflower gratinata is SO good!!

        2. Talavera seems so boring to me, typical resort restaurant.

Proof, which is just as close to the hotel, was interesting and innovative. About 5 years ago.

Troon North is just so fucking out of the way, places like Sassi, Talavera, Proof, etc. just sort of rest on their laurels cuz they have a captive audience.

But, BC, if you're in town, try to find some time (and wheels if necessary) to drive down to Old Towne Scottsdale and hit up Virtù. A month or so ago, I had a great octopus themed dinner -- grilled octopus app, octopus-inspired pasta and then poached copious bites of the osso bucco pasta from my companion's plate. The meal was punctuated with an affogato and a flourless chocolate cake.

          Go. Please.

Virtù looks fantastic and I've been craving me some grilled octopus.
            Thanks sista. .

You went to Proof 5 years ago?? That's incredible because it's only been around for 1 1/2 years.

I stay at the Four Seasons yearly. It's not too difficult to drive into town for dinner. Some of favorites have been Citizen Public House, Roaring Fork for happy hour, Beckett's Table, and St. Francis.

Talavera is good... just not awesome or innovative. The views are spectacular though.

              1. re: Gelato_in_Roma

Citzen Public House and Tuck Shop is on the list..
Heard great things about Beckett's table..

                Grazie Gelato!

That's exactly the point. Time passed Proof by, even before it was extant.

                  1. re: ipsedixit

                    LOL. .
Ipsy..have you been to The Parlor?

                    1. re: Beach Chick

No, but love the Tuck Shop. Keep an eye out for typos on their menu. Some can be quite hilarious.

                      Enjoy 90 degree ... nights!

                      1. re: ipsedixit

Good to hear that you love the Tuck Shop..

90 degree nights with AC @ the FS..priceless!

                        1. re: Beach Chick

But Madam Chick, are you going to drive all the way from your resort to downtown Phoenix to chow at Tuck Shop? I like the place, but that's usually cuz I hang around CenPho

                          1. re: ipsedixit

Hanging with friends in Tempe last night..

                      2. re: Beach Chick

Go to Crudo if you have not been (best cocktails, and get the crispy pig ears and squid ink risotto), Virtu is also very good and Parlor is great pizza, there is also a Bianco across the street as well

Tuck shop was pretty good when i went there, i dont think i would drive from North Phoenix for it though

They do make a good hendricks gin and tonic (and i dont like tonic) but they make their own tonic, it is suprisingly good - their food is heavy and a bit much for summer here though

Beckett's table is blah to me

CPH get the pork belly pastrami app

                        1. re: Dapuma

Crudo looks fantastic...drink list is awesome as well.
                          Thanks Dapuma!

                    2. Glad to see you doing Scottsdale reconnaissance! I need a Friday lunch August!

Find someplace indoors. With air conditioning. Hold the misters.

                          Hola Chica!
                          Monsoon August in PHX.
You still at the Royal Palms?
Love this resort and with the SD Chef, Paul McCabe at T. Cooks, should be fantastic for lunch/dinner.
I like Lon's at the Hermosa..
                          You would LOVE Durant's!
The Parlor was excellent, last time we were there.
Wrights at the Biltmore is always good.
                          Hopefully, others will chime in.

Too bad we won't be there the same time..
You are going to LOVE the Royal Palms..

                            Pizzeria Bianco for lunch..
                            Binkley's in Cave Creek

Like Ipsy says, anywhere with A/C is your real friend, along with a cold beer.

                          2. Got the package deal with $66 for breakfast for 2 at Proof..
Cost is $30 per night for $66 per diam for food..
Don't need to go to Wharton to figure this is a good deal.

Happy Hour at Bourbon Steak still good at the Fairmont Princess?
Any other HH fun places somewhat close by?
