OXO corn stripper - a great tool

It's the start of sweet corn season and for a 3rd year I'm again using my OXO corn stripper. It's a fast, practical tool for removing kernels of cooked corn from the cob without risk of hand injury from a slipped knife. You also have much less mess from spattered kernels, since the clear top dome collects about one ear's worth at a time. The dome has a larger opening at the top that allows you to quickly empty the cut kernels into a dish, then continue on. The sharp scalloped metal blade cuts about 4 rows of kernels at a time. One button push to disassemble into 2 pieces for cleanup, and OK to wash in the dishwasher. It's light-weight, about the size of a 1 cup measuring cup, and easily stores in the back corner of a cupboard between seasons.

I'm glad to have this.

  1. This is a great tool! I used mine last night to strip two ears of fresh corn for creamed corn. I sauteed a small sliced shallot with a smashed clove of garlic then added heavy cream & reduced a bit. I added the corn plus the "milk" I extracted from the cob by rubbing the back of a chef's knife up and down the cob. A few grating of fresh nutmeg and it was the hit of the meal!
