Pizzelle cookies in SF Bay Area

I'm looking for any place around the SF Bay Area that sells pizzelle cookies. Anyone have any suggestions?

My bf has been really missing his family, especially some of the homemade things his mom makes, including pizzelle cookies. Since i can't justify spending $50+ on a pizzelle maker that I will likely use only once a year, I was hoping I could find the cookies sold somewhere and surprise him instead. So far, I haven't had much luck. Any help would be much appreciated!

(Also, I wish there was some kind of store that loans out kitchenware, like the Home Depot rental department except for kitchen items...)

  1. Fresh or packaged? Genova in Oakland usually has a few flavors of packaged.

Either, really. Thanks for the tip! I'm going to stop there on Tuesday and pick them up.

Thanks again! I knew I could count on Chowhound!

I'd give them a call ahead just to be sure-- I haven't been there in a few months but they've had them for years !

Will do! I was racking my brains trying to think of italian stores that weren't pizzerias or full restaurants.

Another friend also suggested Falletti Foods in SF. Lucky for me I'm in Oakland early this week and SF later.

    2. Packaged pizzelle might be kind of depressing, half of the pleasure of those things is the aroma of them cooking.

You can get an old-fashioned stovetop pizzelle iron on eBay for $20. While the pizzelle are warm you can roll them into tubes to make cannoli, so maybe you'd use it more than once a year?

      1. Cost Plus World market (the one at Fisherman's Wharf definitely do) almost always have the packaged ones in stock.
