  1. I like Popeyes version.

    1. Popeyes is tough to beat, to be honest. Even the estimable Donald Link counts it as one of the best versions . . . in New Orleans!

I don't know of a good creole or Cajun restaurant in LA.

I've had good rb's and r at Harold & Belle's, but it's been quite a while and I can't vouch for the current iteration.

I need to get back there it's been a while too for me. All the talk about expensive fried chicken and comfort food. Nice to see Popeyes get some respect. Next up, the colonel. Tho not for red beans n rice.

      2. I've had occasion to visit NOLA several times in the past two or three years. The best red beans and rice I had there were, strangely, on the Creole Queen riverboat cruise.

The best in L.A. (as opposed to LA) are indeed at Popeyes.

Harold & Belle's, sorry, second place.

        1. I was at H & B's just yesterday by chance.

          Cajun Popcorn
          Red Beans & Rice
          Gumbo File'
          Oyster Poboy

All good, and the only real creole game in town.

I always seem to forget about that joint.

It's been a solid year since I've been.

              And that ain't no joke.

Their blackened stuff was pretty good too, and you're close to the people watching event that is the Hermosa Beach Pier.
