Back page no longer working

Am having trouble going back to main forum listing page or to search results after reading a topic thread. In both Safari 7.0.3 & Firefox 28.0 on OS 10.9.3, hitting back page button (or keyboard shortcut) results in the topic reloading over & over again. Weird!

Just updated to Firefox 29.0.1 & the problem remains.

Having the same problem. Thought it was weird, but didn't think to report it. I'm on my iPad using whatever version of Safari is current.

I was able to reproduce this on iPad but not on desktop (though we haven't moved up to Mavericks OS yet, which is what it looks like you're using indigirl). We'll take a look.

Correction: I couldn't reproduce it in Safari on desktop, but I did see it happen in Firefox. Thanks for the reports.

I can confirm this on desktop Safari (v6.1.3) on Mac OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) as well as iPad Safari (iOS 7.1.1). Having to hit the back but up to 6 times to actually get from a thread back up to the topic list. I would say that it has been happening for a couple of weeks.

Does the Chow development team actually test changes on a range of platforms before rolling them out?

In the past, problems like this one have stemmed from ads interfering with navigation. When this happens, do you see the URL in the navigation bar change at all? Is it inconsistent, or does it happen every time? If you happen to notice any consistency in the ads you see before this happens, that may also be relevant.

URL doesn't change, it kind of blinks though.
                Will try to notice ads.

Don't see the URL change, don't even see it blink. Perhaps this is related to the Strawberry Margarita video? It always there.

This is happening on my iPad - when I hold down the back button, it show the same page loading anywhere from two to eight times. Then it will work fine once or twice. In the past it's been the interstitial ad pages, but this is different.

I haven't had this problem on a PC yet, but I always right-click the back button so I can skip the ad-loaders. Today The back button history showed two clicks for HBO/Veep before I could get "back".

For those of you experiencing this bug- does it happen on every page, or is it inconsistent? My working theory is that this is being caused by the square slideshow ads in the right column that flip between different images every few seconds. Since those don't appear on every page load, I'm curious if any of you have run into the problem without that ad on the page.

I have it on my PC, but not on my iPad. I have to right click on the back button and select the page I'm trying to get back to. There are usual several "topics" pages before the page I'm trying to get back to. It happens on every single page.

Inconsistent. When it happens, I have to click the back button several times for it to work. The last time it happened, there was no slide show running (but I have Flash disabled).

It happens on most pages, perhaps all pages (I don't remember when it didn't happen lately). It seems to happen on every page in which I scroll down to see the whole listing. When I click the back button, the page reloads (meaning the screen goes blank very briefly, then the page loads again after getting a response over the network) and I see the page at the top.

This happens both on a PC with Firefox/Windows 7 and a Mac with Safari.

Edit: I just tested it, it happens whether or not I scroll down the page.

Not fixed for me, at least on the laptop I'm currently using. Back button usually works, but often has to be pressed several times. Sometimes it doesn't work at all.

                                            Hi everyone.

I tested this extensively today and could not reproduce it on iPad (iOS 7.1.1/Safari) or Mac (10.8.5 Mountain Lion) using Safari. I did see it happen once or twice in Windows 7 using IE and Firefox. I saw it most consistently happen (though not every time) on Mac using Firefox.

Some of you have reported that it's working again on your iPads and Macs, which is great news. For those of you still having an issue, we'll keep looking into it, but please bear with us, because intermittent issues are far more difficult to troubleshoot.

                                            Thanks for your reports.
