Good Eats near Victoria (London)

  • 9

I'm meeting some visiting relatives for lunch tomorrow - probably near Victoria. I know the usual suspects... Quilon, Noura or Grand Imperial. Any ideas for a good gastropub as these Americans probably know zilch about British cuisine.

  1. Does the Ebury Wine Bar qualify as a usual suspect?

I had forgotten about this one as I've never been there. Thanks, DavidT. That might just be the right choice.

    2. You could even go very British indeed and take them to the Goring Dining Room.

      1. fwiw, every american visitor i've taken to boisdale has loved it.

        nice scotch list.

        1. We ended up at Ebury Wine bar and enjoyed an excellent lunch.

Glad you enjoyed it. I will be having dinner in that area in a couple of weeks and may give the Ebury a try.

I do thank you again, David, for the good suggestion. I thought the food was most delicious. In fact, my American visitor said it was one of the best meals they'd had in their UK stay (which was long). Of course, I'm not sure what kind of restaurants they're used to. :-)

I had two Thai fishcakes for a starter, and for me they were good because they weren't too spicy. My main was the beetroot risotto with parsnip crisps. One guest had a duck breast and the other had a fish main... can't remember which fish.

          2. Too late for your needs but have had some tasty dim sum at A Wong recently, very near Victoria station.

Thanks, trains go there or Waterloo, so a good spot is always welcome.
