New life for the Lido?

Noticed a "HotDeli" sign on the re-done Lido building on East Broadway. Anyone know what's happening there? Is it too much to hope it may actually be a hot deli?

  1. I live near that corner and wait for the bus in front of that building. My inquisitiveness got me info that this will be a local pub and should be opening soon-ish.

Interesting. That area is pretty devoid of anything interesting, other than Pizzeria Barbarella. Seb's used to be the life of the 'hood, and I hear from a foodie friend the new sushi place that's there now (Sushi Loku) is quite good.

Loku is good, just beware of ordering takeout when they're busy! Harkness & Co Butcher is fantastic too. I don't know if Patrick is hosting sausage making nights at the shop, but I think he did last year.

Sweet, thanks for the intel! Any more info on pedigree? Philosophy? Menu?

      3. I've been waiting for the Hot Deli to open too! Saw some people there on Saturday and realized that 1) it is in fact a pub and 2) Hot Deli is an anagram of The Lido and someone just rearranged the sign :) Either way, it looked bustling and I plan to check it out this week.

"Hot Deli is an anagram of The Lido"

          Nice !

        2. I preferred it when it was "Hot Deli. I've watched the developement from beginning, hoping for a restaurant. I drive by twice a day. The blinds are down at these times. The only information is open/close time. Now I have no clue what it is and I no longer care. This seems like the most unwelcoming, unfriendly place. There must be another agenda here or why start a business by being unfriendly or anti-social.

Hot Deli & The Lido are one and the same. It's a pub open from 4pm till 1am with a small stage and comfy sofas. No food, unfortunately. Only snacks to go with alcohol. I'd asked one of the staff if they'd ever serve coffee in the mornings but I don't think they have that capacity. = (

Yup! They'll probably mention when their next show is on their facebook page.

          2. thanks for the post I have been wondering what the LIDO was and why there is always a line out front!
