Is there good paella in town ?

I've been kindly shared some info re: Slough Food in Bow-Edison (WA) and started wondering if there is good local paella. It's an every-Joe (Jose ?) family dish so I'd hope to find it as a affordable dish in an affordable resto.

  1. I wouldn't categorize it as affordable (though it's not expensive), but Espana does a nightly paella and it's tasty.

        Me neither. Ima hafta brave the lineups there one of these days, no resos. We have such little in the way of Spanish food here now...

          Paella Party at Slough Food!

          We are kicking off our Summer 2014 Paella Season this Sunday, May 18th, Noon to Fourish. Our local Paella guru, Knut Christiansen, from, will be here creating this famous Spanish rice with mussels, singing pink scallops, prawns, seasonal vegetables, and chorizo.

          Knut typically creates three unique batches, starting around noon and ending around four.

          Slough Food will be offering our normal courtyard menu with the addition of a Paella friendly wine selection. Plus, we have Kulshan Brewing IPA on tap, and our housemade Sangria!

            Just seeing this now as we were in Portland for the long weekend but thanks! As it happened we did pop into Kulshan on the way home, nice patio, and the sanguches at Rumba are worthy.

            For others reading along, Slough Food, Kulshan and Rumba are in Bellingham.

          or - since it's a long drive for us - can you please tell me how to make it - ever since going to Cuba - where they made a great paella for the touristas at the "resort" - I have wanted to try this myself.

            maybe a paella party is in order; weekend june 14/15?
            who knows how to set up this sort of thing, according to the rules of CH?

          2. perhaps what I'd consider "good" paella will be different from what others' definition, but... the basic components include fresh seafood, flavourful sausage and chorizo, and good chicken/duck, combined with well-cooked, good quality rice, and saffron.
            I've not had paella in a local restaurant for many years, although did try it out in Barcelona and Sitges at water-side cafes.
