      Sledge, you might want to pull your calendar out from August 2011 and set it to 2014..

      Probably too busy getting your airline tixs from PSA, getting a new rotary 'Princess' phone, changing the avocado fridge to a 'Gold' tone to match the shag carpet and gussying up that Pacer. .

              The whole collage made my brain melt down for a few minutes.

          2. Cucina Enoteca in Flower Hill is the place to be. Sea & Smoke has a great patio, but I'm not a fan of the food.

            Also if you haven't been since the remodel, the Pony Room at Rancho Valencia is worth visiting for happy hour.

            2. You might also want to check out El Agave in the Del Mar Plaza. It is nicer than their Old Town Location and you can show the North County cougs a thing or two while getting your marg fix.

                    I've been a Bully's chica for many years and miss my LJ locale but Del Mar is always second best.

                      I was going to suggest Bully's and then realized I didn't know if it was even open anymore so I better google it.

                      I don't see Patty Melt Tips on the menu though (in lieu of rib tips)

                        You should just stick to recommending T&A bar's with that Double Double in the greater Sports Arena area. .

                        Love Chinos and will swing by for veggies but no strawberries for me..never liked them. :(

                        We're hitting up Belly Up and that will probably mean a late night Roberto's taco shop run in Solana Beach..
                        I just hope the Oyster bar at the Fish Market isn't too long of a wait with campers. .
                        Room service baby for breakfast..

                      2. Long weekend at the beach in Del Mar was a perfect choice to hang and no better place than the Fish Market Oyster bar for dinner before Belly Up..
                        Duckett's Bucket, spicy tuny roll, chowder, cheesy bread, oysters Rockfeller and Anchor Steam on draft..
                        All outstanding. .

                        Belly Up was a blast and the shuttle driver made it even better to have a few cocktails without driving.

                        Memorial Day was a complete zoo along PCH with no parking anywhere and so we had Plan B with Jake's Del Mar and was the perfect venue for lunch on a ga ga gorgeous day with oceanfront dining and great food and drink...had seafood chowder and Ahi salad, rare with a spicy bloody mary and the DH had a burger which he said was really good.
                        Service was fab and a comped Hula Pie always hit the spot.

                        $4 valet is so worth it for a place to park, eat and then have beach access to walk from the resto to Dog beach and back from Jakes's, while the car with its own parking spot, safely secured and with water temps around 68 degrees and no May gray was no where in sight.

                        Dogs, kids, locals and tourists were out and about and couldn't get any better on being in one of the prettiest places in So. Cal.

                        Red Tracton's was closed for lunch so hitting that up before the SD Fair and Chinos was closed 2 days but saw the beloved corn almost ready for my grill.

                        North County rocks and miss being in my old home stomping grounds of Del Mar and it felt good to be back baby!!

                        1. A bit late for your weekend, but since we're talking Del Mar on this thread I thought this might be a good place to comment that at Kitchen 1540 tonight I ordered the baquetta grouper, and it was superb. First I've had it.

                          The person with me had the sablefish, which was good, but the grouper really stood out on a higher plateau. It's a knockout dish at a reasonable price. The menu description doesn't begin to do it justice.

                          Wish I'd had a camera because the presentation was also excellent.

                            Love Grouper and glad you had a nice dinner at Kitchen 1540.
                            Great place and hope you walked the beach afterwards.

                                No appetizers this time, but we did share a dessert. I don't remember what it was called, but it was centered around a portion of house-made peach-like sherbet and had a long, twisted white-colored pudding-like strand in the middle. And garnishes. (Showing my ignorance here, but maybe you recognize it from that description.) It was small but very good.

                                Mainly we just split a bottle of Sparrow Hawk Reserve Chard and had the main courses. And the dessert. Our appetites were limited that day. I posted primarily because the grouper dish was so exceptional.

                                  Hanging in Del Mar changes as of today with the opening of the SD Fair and then pony season, which I love dearly but all resto's are such a zoo, until after Labor Day.

                                  I'm gonna sneek into Red Tractons for lunch before the fair for a lobster club sandwich..friggin' da bomb!

                                    It was very good. A bit on the light side and dry on the tongue for my taste, but nicely balanced with a hint of melon and good oak.

                                            BC, actually most of the restaurants around the fairgrounds are kinda slow during the SD Fair. Everybody that goes to the fair, tends to eat at the fair. When we lived down on the beach in SB we used to get coupons from the Fish Market every year. Not true during the track season. If you time it right, you can avoid the Via de off ramp crush. Lomas is always a nice alternative.

                                              Concur..I go through the ranch and park by the Polo fields.
                                              Done many times the back way from LSF to Eden Gardens and see all the sheep on I-5 North past to DM Heights..

                                              Can't wait till pony season!
