Fortina opening in Rye Brook

  • m

So...Fortina from Armonk has just signed a lease on the spot that was the former Racanelli's in Rye Ridge Plaza. I enjoy the one in Armonk...looking forward to seeing what they will do in RB. It's a bit of a different feel/vibe/setting clearly. Thoughts anyone???

  1. I saw the news today, too, and I'm also curious how different it will be from the Armonk location. Armonk and Rye Brook aren't THAT far from one another so to some extent, they will draw the same crowds of patrons. So I'm hoping there's something distinct about their new spot. Also, on Facebook someone commented that they thought Fortina was coming to CT and Fortina responded, "stay tuned." Interesting....

    1. I hope they don't spread themselves too thin. We love Fortina and their customer service is amazing. We waited a crazy long time for our pizzas this passed Saturday. My husband had had an appetizer (bone marrow ;-)) so he was fine but I was shaking I was so hungry. When the pizzas came mine was wrong so they took it back. My husband finished his before I got mine back. They comped our entire meal. Oh, and they brought me another glass of wine, which would have put me under the table if I had finished it!! But I think that was a class act. I just hope with maybe two more places they are still good.

I think they try super hard and their customer service is top notch! I do love the bone marrow, too!

That was my husband's concern, too. They have such a good thing going in Armonk, I hope expansion doesn't kill what they already have. Fortina does have three owners (including Christian, the chef), plus Coby, the beverage manager, so I guess between them they can handle keeping two places reasonably close to one another in check. We shall see!

        2. I'm just happy they aren't replacing the Racanelli's Pizza and Brew location. My heart stopped for a second when i read the article. Lots of memories from that spot.

Um...there are. I'm sorry to tell you. that's exactly where they are going. Racanelli's has been closed a while now.

Racanellis pizza and brew on central ave? I don't think so... Could be wrong but Fortina is taking over the rye brook Racanellis...

              1. re: drew22

sorry, I was confused b/c i read it quickly and b/c growing up off central ave, i concisely called the one in RR pizza and brew even though they called it racanelli's. sorry for the confusion.

I don't see how there can be any confusion given that it clearly says Rye Brook and you're talking about Scarsdale/Central venue.

Once upon a time, when I was younger- there as a place called Pizza and Brew owned by the Racanellis. Fast forward to my moving to the other side of the county and, calling the pizza place in RR Pizza and Brew- even though THAT one was called Racanelli's. Being I called them both the same thing, I was indeed confused and I read to quickly before I responded. There was confusion on my own part b/c I have called them the same name for all this time, and b/c I wasn't careful when I read the post.

And we all get confused these days!!!!!!! I too think of Pizza and Brew as Central Avenue.

And I remember when they were in Bedford Hills next to Shoprite and had Rockwell's across 117 (which I'm fairly sure they also owned).

Good grief, yes! That was when we first moved up here from Queens. We ate at Rockwells once. Ugh. And boy has that location gone through restaurants! The P&B next to Shoprite never looked to clean to me. I never went in. Now it's a wine store.

                1. As long as they keep the same people in Armonk.....don't want to lose our chef and guys. Love it just the way it is.
