Pump by Lisa Vanderpump opening

Does anyone know when this is opening ? Everything says later this month and my two co workers want to have a commitment /celebration there. I have called Sur and Villa Blanca but all I hear is later this month. Does anyone know if it's just a bar or will it have food? Or maybe a private room for a party.

  1. Eater LA http://la.eater.com/tags/pump-lounge says mid May and that since they give the name of the "chef" who will be manning (womaning?) the kitchen I am going to go out on a limb and say they will have food (g).

                    yeah got it...good point

                2. re: Servorg

It's a quote from a Mission of Burma song which in turn is borrowed from a quote attributed to Herman Goering - "When I hear the word 'culture', that's when I reach for my revolver."

Apparently, the actual quote is, "When I hear the word 'culture' I flick off the safety on my Browning."

Those with the knee-jerk anti-gun reaction come across as ignorant more than anything else. Relax, people. I'm quoting a quote that was misquoted by someone else.

When I hear the word "culture" I think of that old phrase by Dorothy Parker.

          2. She'll have food and drinks….very upscale.

Interesting location, right next to The Abbey.
Let's hope this business lasts for more than a year, unlike
            the many before hers.

            1. why?

              1. Pump may be part of Lisa's family name, but it makes me think of Stomach Pump before anything else. But I am sure there is nothing wrong with the food at all.

                          Under the what ???????

And how many drinks would that entail ??????

                          Thanks buddy.

                          1. re: kevin

I cannot remember the exact words, but it was something like "...three drinks and I am under the table, four drinks and I am under the host."

I am sure that LeslieSue will know.

                            1. re: Tripeler

I think you have it right, but am looking through the books. Sorry for misspelling your name earlier.

                              1. re: lesliesue

I'd definitely like to know the exact quote.

But what triples mentioned sounds good to me.

                                1. re: lesliesue

No problem about the name. I love Belgian Tripel ales, so I picked the name Tripeler. If you don't know where it comes from, it is hard to do correctly. Your name is easy for me -- my sister is Kimberly Sue.

                                  1. re: Tripeler

And my oldest friend is Kimberly Ann. Describe Tripel Ales?

                                    1. re: lesliesue

Tripel ales are "triple strength" in that they have a lot of malt plus rock sugar to get alcohol up to around 8-10 percent. They are almost always blond or faintly amber, and have a rich and aromatic body. Sort of the polar opposite of Bud Light.
Oh, gosh, Wiki is our friend.
                                      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripel

If you like beer and ever have a chance to try one, I heartily recommend it. My favorite brands are Westmalle Tripel, Tripel Karmileit, and Dulle Teve (Mad Bitch) from De Dolle Brewers.

                                        Or Curieux ?????

Or the Trappist Rochefort series ???????

                                        1. re: kevin

Deus is exceptionally delicious. I have never had Curieux.
Rochefort 6 is not so good, Rochefort 8 is superb and Rochefort 10 (all 11% of it) is incredible and I call it the Chocolate Brownie of Beers. Rochefort 10 has a fantastic aroma that is unique.

                                    2. re: Tripeler

Sorry - "four and I'm under the host."

Skipping a word certainly ruins the cadence as well as the impression.

                                      I detest the iPhone

                                  2. re: Tripeler

I wish I could drink like a lady. I can take one or two at the most. Three and I'm under the table; four and under the host.

However, there are variations and I have not had time to run down the most likely one.

                                    1. re: lesliesue

GREAT!! Thanks. Still, one will have do admit that "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think" is unsurpassed brilliance.

It made me think of that utterly fantastic Aerosmith album boasting masterpieces like Janie's Got a Gun and Love in an Elevator, arguably the best song of the 1990s.

That's because it is an Aerosmith album name.
