Boiling crab - how long is the wait?
I am planning on taking my sister and her daughter (from Minnesota) to the Boiling Crab on Friday. I saw a lot of people raving about this restaurant but they also complained about the 2-hr wait. How long do I have to wait if I go there on next Friday? If we go at 3pm, do we still have to wait for a long time? Do the entire party have to wait there in line in order to get their table?
Also, I am wondering what is around that area? I live in Frisco and I very seldom drive down to Dallas. Can you tell me where I can take them after or before eating? We like to do some sightseeing and some shopping, Thanks!
If you get there between 3:00-5:00 pm, you should be fine. Sat and Sun when they open at noon is also a good time.
For weekend nights, we call ahead and order it take-out. By the time we get there (about 30 min), it's ready.
For shopping, there's really nothing over there. Northpark Mall is about 15 minutes away and probably your best bet. For sightseeing, White Rock Lake isn't too far from Northpark and the Boiling Crab.
I went on a Friday night around 5:30pm. There was only a couple sitting in the waiting area. (I guess there might be some other people walking around the strip mall waiting) They told me the wait will be 45 minutes. It ended up, we only waited for 30 minutes. So if you get there early, there shouldn't be a problem. When we got out like around 6:45pm, the long was already all the way out the door and wrapped around the restaurant. Then I heard someone said the wait would be around 2 hours for them. Oh well, try to get there as early as possible, you will be fine. Also make sure you order the clams (garlic favor) they are so big and so delicious!
