Mr. Fish and chips or Chef John's fish and chips?

  • 4

So a few months ago, I was looking for a good place to get fish and chips that wasn't too expensive and wasn't an actual sit down restaurant like Anthony's or studio diner. I came across Mr. Fish and chips on yelp and decided to give them a try and they had some of the best fish and chips I've ever had! I also saw on yelp that there's another fish and chips restaurant similar to Mr. Fish and chips called Chef John's out in lemon grove. I haven't been there yet, but they look like the closest competitor to Mr. Fish and chips. For anyone who's been to both places, what one do you think is better?

  1. Chef John's for me, although I haven't been in awhile. Chef John works the deep fryer with precision of a surgeon...seriously. You can watch him from the counter, he's very meticulous!

    1. Only because Mr. Fish & Chips just re-opened and I haven't had a chance to try it again would I say Chef John's.

Both are very much the same and I would go to whichever was closer.

I've never exactly been a big fan, but every now and again I used to go to Mr Fish & Chips. Don't know what took them so long to re-open, but the food, ambience, and service are all about the same as before their "temporary" closure.

That corner of the shopping center now has a small common outdoor dining area (shared just with Jersey Mike's for now) so there'll be a bit more seating than before.

      2. I love Mister Fish and Chips! I stumbled on that place many moons ago while in the area. It's a tiny place and but they turn out a decent, inexpensive lunch. I have not been to Chef John's.
