Looking for a fruity (and non-grassy) style of Sauvignon Blanc
No oak either and in the lower price range. Off-dry would be nice too.
From California, Honig is probably my favorite in the non-grassy (New Zealand-like) style. 90 percent of the wine is kept in stainless, while 10 percent is placed into neutral oak for "roundness" (not for oak flavor).
Most Chilean bottlings are not grassy: Santa Rita, for one. From California, Geyser Peak, Honig (yes), Dry Creek Fume blanc, and Markham are good values.
Southern Right SB from Hamilton Russell is very good and should be under $15. I just the 2013. It was well balanced and was very food-friendly.
