"Caribbean Restaurant" in Asbury Park

I'm going old school Chowhound today.

There's a curious little restaurant in the middle of Asbury Park that's been there for over a decade (as far as I know) that no one seems to know about. You won't find this place on Yelp or Urbanspoon. This is literally the only review or mention of this place on the interwebs that I'm aware of.

I stopped by this place once long ago during my quest for jerk chicken and left disappointed - there's nothing Jamaican on the menu. I've since returned to try some of their little fried snacks (fried pork, meat filled potato thingy) but never actually had a meal there.

So what kind of cuisine do they serve here? I'm not sure. It seems like some form of generic "latin" food. When I stopped in and asked the owners what type of food it is, they just told me it's "spanish." I guess they don't really know either.

They have a rotating menu that changes daily. When I stopped in I got some goat stew - it comes with rice and beans. Tasty stuff. The people who run this place are Peruvian, and if you ask for hot sauce they'll hook you up with the spicy green stuff you find at most Peruvian places.

I hope this makes me some kind of Asbury Park hipster.

Yellowpages says it's at 1004 Main St # 1004, Asbury Park, NJ 07712. I dunno if that's correct or not. It's on Main St. near Asbury Ave.

I have..wasn't particularly impressed. I'd say it's my least favorite out of the three..

Isn't there another Carribean place on Memorial Drive in AP?

There are two Jamaican places on Memorial - Negrille and Islander. There's also Mark's Place on Main st.
