Malones Sandwich and Coffee House in Clinton

  • 4

Had lunch at Malones Coffee house at 10 West main in Clinton (next to post office). You can eat on stools at high tables near the kitchen in back, or take your food to the lounge area in front and relax on sofas in a living room atmosphere.

Besides usual line of coffee, tea, slurpees, etc. they have a reasonable number of soups, sandwiches and baked desserts.

My BLT was average, but the Clam Chowder was the best I have had in several years. DW had a beef sandwich that had enough meat for at least two more lunches.

So, not a place for a big meal, but an excellent snack supplier.

HA, my first thought was it sure didn't sound that way so I wouldn't give up SS&SC. Like, a BLT is easy to make above average with great bread and bacon, no?

Announcement to the universe: COME TO MIDDLETOWN, Saybrook Soup & Sandwich Co. PLEASE, PLEASE! You won't be sorry!

Not as many sandwich/soup choices as SS&S, but much classier decor (in front room) and more beverage possibilities.

Katty: you may pray for SS&S to be cloned in Mid. but please don't suggest they move!

Oh, heck, no. I don't want to steal them from you. I've just heard them talk of expanding and I keep telling them they would kill in M'town. We have nothing like them. NOTHING. Lucky you, you'll probably get another shoreline location out of them. And I'll have another excuse to run to OS. :)
