After the Phillies game this Sunday

Any suggestions for dinner around 7-8pm this Sunday? There will be 7 of us, coming from and heading back to different directions after the game (DE & NJ). Italian, American bistro food preferred. Any suggestions that will not take us too far from the highways we need to go home? Not familiar with Philly, so I thank you in advance.

  1. I don't have a specific restaurant for you but the E. Passyunk strip has some pretty great dining choices and is a short trip down broad street from the Stadium complex - parking can be a hassle but its worth it

East Passyunk is probably your best bet to choose from a variety of restaurants. As for parking, the Parkway garage on Broad & McKean offers a flat evening rate (enter after 5PM) of $5.

Quiet places on East Passyunk, Birra for quality neopilitan pizza and other italian in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tony Lukes not far from the stadium will be an easy

Across the street from the stadium Chickie and Petes Sports Bar .. burgers wings crab legs etc. Bit of a zoo but you probably could keep your car in the Stadium parking lot and walk across.

South Philly Tap Room, or Royal Tavern would be options if you want to venture into South Philly.

Chickie & Petes would be a pretty much last resort from my point of view...nothing memorable about the food, and any attractive/boxom women in the group would need to be prepared for being harassed throughout their meal (have endured a few late night, post-concert/game gatherings there in recent years.)

          1. re: sockii

There's also the matter of Chickie and Pete's having been caught stealing their employees' tips, if that kind of thing bothers you..

            1. re: Buckethead

That has been settled... so at least you know that they are getting paid correctly now.

      2. Popi's is nearby. Free parking, decent italian.

        1. East Passyunk has what you're looking for:
Tre Scalini would be my choice. I would never go to Chickie & Pete's, especially after a game, sure to be a zoo of drunk 20 somethings.

          1. Thanks for your help Philly Chowhounds! We went to Birra on E. Passyunk. Other than a very strange hostess who didn't want to seat us at a big empty table, we had a great time! There were 7 of us; we shared the mussels, the fontina fondanta and bread dip as appetizers...all were very good. 4 pizzas--the gabagool, the gaahhlic, a margharita and the pear/gruyere with proscuit. And two of us got entrees--short rib ravioli and cavatelli with lamb bolognese. Too much food! But really good. The pizzas were to die for; thin crust well done but not charred. Quality toppings. Those who imbibe enjoyed their beer selection. Thanks again!

I was thinking of trying Birra or Revolution House after the game today. Can't find a draft list for Birra though.

              1. re: littlecmad

Its about ten draught beers, plus a good bottle collection. It is kept on a chalkboard on the wall has their bottle/can list.

Thanks but I like know what beers are available before I go.

What are you looking for? Birras beer selection is much better than Revolution House, that is obvious from comparing bottle lists. I don't think RH is worth the hassling of driving to Old City from the game. Khyber Pass pub down the street may be, has much better food and beer list than both places. Their tap list is on their website.
