Does anyone know where to find...

I'm looking for an amazing beer called Old Engine Oil. I want to get some as a gift for my wife. I probably need to go to a speciality beer shop but I wondered if anyone had seen it at Brooklyn Larder or at Stinky Brooklyn. Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. According to Top Hops in Manhattan has if for $5 a bottle. In Brooklyn I would guess Eagle Provisions has it or if those other places are closer you might just want to call them.

    1. You may also want to check Bierkraft. Eagle Provisions probably has a larger selection, but Bierkraft is closer to the two options you list above.

I've seen it on tap within the last couple of months, but for the life of me I can't remember where. Maybe Bar Great Harry or 4th Ave Pub.

Thank you guys! I love to browse those stores anyway when I can. Did the Larder cut its beer selection down or has it always been limited? I can't remember.

its a small shop in all respects - its not had beer for that long but like everything else in the store, their selection is "curated" rather than encyclopedic. I think all their beer is refrigerated, and is in one smallish cooler in the back and seems rather esoteric -for example baladin beers from italy but no dogfish head. - the selection is international and could be very good (I am not a beer geek) but it simply does not compare in scope to the offerings at other local shops. .Im sure someone more knowlegeable could comment further on what they do have..

        2. Haha!...Soemone brought a bottle of it to me a couple years ago...and I still have it!

Of course, I couldn't be sure how well it's "bottle-aged", but my alternate recommendation would be the Thrifty Beverage Center on Court Street and Kane in Cobble Hill across from the movie theatre and Chocolate Room. They have an outstanding selection from England/Scotland.

Ok, so I tried Bierkraft and they sometimes have the beer but do not currently. I was able to find it and several others at Top Hops on Orchard. Thanks again!
