River's Edge Cafe & Bakery - Stratford, CT

Just heard of this new place that went in where Quizno's was next to Biageo's in Stratford in Ryder's Landing. Heard it wasn't waiter service; you order at the counter and they deliver to you. She said their pancakes are incredible. If you go, let us know how it is. I will do the same. Looks interesting. I wish them the best of luck.

Yelp is a bit low for wait times, but sure they have to get the kinks out, and I bet it's busy at primetime lunch times with Sikorsky nearby.

  1. Went on a Sunday late morning after church. Their short stack of pancakes was incredible and bacon crispy. We all loved the pancakes--wish they offered whipped butter. Not a lot of seating in the place, so kind of hard if you want to go and sit down, but they have a lovely patio area with lots of tables which will be terrific once the weather warms up and winds die down. The bakery items LOOKED terrific, but we didn't try anything there, so can't speak to it. It was frustrating when we went with a group of four and there was nowhere to sit and one woman with a laptop and a pile of bags sitting at a table for six. It's just a bit disorganized trying to order (reminiscent of the soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld) and then pay and then pray that you find a place to sit. The remodel is nicely done but they definitely added a lot more space for their own needs--kitchen, bakery, and front end displays and less for folks to sit down. So, I think it is a terrific place to order takeout. Anxious to try more items. But definitely worth a stop for the pancakes alone--Oh, the pancakes say they are available on Saturdays and Sundays only--next time I want to try the blueberry pancakes and their specialty coffees.
