Home Cooking Dish of the Month (May 2014) Voting

Nominations are closed and voting is now open for the May Dish of the month. You can take a peek at the nomination thread here:
http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/973006

I was unable to narrow down the candidates any further, the top six dishes are essentially tied. So this month you have a long list of choices, but you can only vote for one dish. Consider the dishes and choose one you'd like to prepare at least once in May, and possibly experiment with more than one version. Here are your choices:

ASPARAGUS WITH SAUCE
GALETTE
PASTA PRIMAVERA
PICKLED SEASONAL VEGETABLES
RHUBARB CAKES AND QUICK BREADS
VEGETABLE SUSHI

(I've taken the liberty of removing the "hot" from asparagus, in order to open the category up to asparagus that is cooked, but served at room temperature with a sauce.)

To vote for a dish, simple click "recommend" in the post where the dish is named. Each person can only vote for one dish in this round.

Feel free to continue the discussion, ask questions, etc. (Posts will keep bumping the thread so more people will see it, hitting "recommend" will not bump the thread. Posts will also add the thread to your list of Followed Discussions.)

Voting will be open Wednesday April 30h at 10pm Pacific time (1 am on May 1st Eastern time, and 5 am May 1st GMT).

here are a couple of sauces that look really good for asparagus: http://orangette.blogspot.com/2009/05...

          GALETTE.
I can't "recommend" my own post, so I'm voting here for galette.

(...and will be happy to cook from any of these dishes!)

Although I'd still like to do this sometime, it looks like my May will be plenty busy with dishes from the cookbook of the month. My vote is going for asparagus.

                  1. re: MidwesternerTT

Yes, so far not much action on sushi, but if it doesn't pick up interest this month, I hope we get back to it some time.

                2. A very tight race so far, about 48 hours to go!

Unless we get a few more votes in the next two hours, your's will be the tie-breaker vote, L.Nightshade. Great choices this month and any of those top 3 (as of now) will be fun for me to make.

                    1. re: MidwesternerTT

Ack, I know! But actually, at this point, anyone and everyone voting is the tiebreaker. I'd be happy with any of these dishes. Like all of you, I just voted my top preference.

It's always OK to change your vote, just un-click recommend, and click it in another dish. Not that I'm urging anyone to do that, just want to make sure people know that's OK.

In a very close race, GALETTE will be the dish of the month for May.

The reporting thread will be up tomorrow, in the meantime, start perusing galette recipes, both sweet and savoury. This should be a fun dish of the month!

                      oh-
I would have changed my vote to asparagus

                      1. re: jpr54_1

Then it would have been a tie - we might have all been making asparagus galettes (which are still an option). Grin.

You're not alone jpr - I would have changed mine too. I'm just not a Galette person. I'm not big on "pie" type shells.
