  1. What's a "bagel topping mix"? Other than sesame seed (or poppy seeds) what's is it ?

Can't you just buy individual ingredients (not hard to find) and make your own?

      "What's a "bagel topping mix"?"

      It's this stuff, apparently.

      Obviously.

It's as much of a clashing-flavour abomination as all-flavour potato chips, no doubt.

The only thing good to top bagels is sesame or poppy seeds. You can add other things, but why do you need a mix?

Because it's an american company and their bagels needs a lot of that thing to be good ;)

    2. OK, I had never heard of such a mix before but now I kind of want some. Curious as to what you are planning to do with it; do you make your own bagels? Also, I have to say that - horror of horrors - I actually love the everything bagels at Fairmount. They seem to have more stuff on them than the ones at St-Viateur. Yes, Montreal bagels are good enough to stand on their own, but why not try adding different flavours? Is that so wrong? I am also a fan of the (gasp!) chocolate chip ones at Fairmount and the rosemary ones at St-V...

I had the best hot dog in nyc recently and want to replicate it. It's made with a schmear of cream cheese, scallions, bacon, hot sauce & everything bagel seeds. Seriously the best dog I've had so far

Yum, where did you get that? I do think that what constitutes "everything" varies from place to place.

          1. re: stak

Crif dogs in the east village. And I agree that "everything" varies as I went to Fairmount this week and the mix on their bagels looked different. I guess I'll create my own.

Have you asked at Fairmount or St-Viateur if they'd sell you some of the mix?

I am still puzzled. What is an 'everything bagel mix". Your post above talks about hot dogs and then something called "everything bagel seeds". What is 'everything bagel seeds". Do you want to put them on a hot dog or on a bagel that you make, or on a bagel you buy at Fairmount or St.V.?

OP answered that above. It's for a hot dog.

Thanks. Sorry, didn' t notice. What was confusing was the title "everything bagel mix". I guess it is like an 'all dressed pizza mix" you want to put on something else. Seems strange to call it a bagel mix too!

                1. re: williej

If one were to be grammatically correct, it would take a dash: "everything-bagel mix." The bagels that are coated in this stuff are called "Everything Bagels."
