Wine and Waffles[Alameda]

Walking down Park Street last Friday I noticed that the new "Waffles and Wine" next to Ole's Waffle House is now open. Unfortunately, I'd just had dinner, but I poked my head in.

It's the antithesis of old-school, down-home Ole's: a sleek, modern wine lounge (what they're calling it). Basically, an upscale wine bar with a menu of snacks and small plates (including, of course, waffle fries).

Here's some more info: http://www.contracostatimes.com/my-to...

Also, I noticed that the old gift shop on the corner of Park and Santa Clara that went out of business last year has a permit sign on the window for a proposed "tavern." Apparently Park Street hasn't hit the food and drink saturation point yet.

  1. 200 obscure wines + the menu from Ole's Waffle Shop seems a bit clashing to me.

I'm curious what wine they'd recommend to pair with waffles with pulled pork and maple-whiskey syrup.

I'm guessing maybe a NZ Sauv. Blanc. But what do I know?!
