Hi! I have an upcoming trip for a few days in Hyderabad. I'm looking for recommendations for good restaurants there.

  1. People from all over India go to Hyderabad for its biryanis.

For the "real thing", warts & all, make for Azizia, supposedly one of the earliest commercial establishments offering genuine Hyderabadi biryani. Go for their mutton biryani.

If you're staying at the ITC Kakatiya (IMO, best business hotel in town), the Kebab & Kurries in the hotel does a great "Dum Pukht biryani", subtle and fragrant - though *not* exactly authentic Hyderabadi-style which should use the kuchcha biryani recipe. But come here if you're concerned about hygiene, etc.

Another famous biryani spot in Paradise Hotel in Secunderabad (suburb of Hyderabad) - it's a chain now, but the original outlet (address below) is the best.

Mind you - Andhra-style cuisine is known all over India for its spiciness: even more pronounced than those from other regions of India. I hope you're a chili-head!
