I'm going to be driving from Knoxville to Nashville on a Saturday in June - maybe there's a great place for bbq or something I could stop at on the way?

No. There is precious little in between-mostly gas stations and fast food about every 30 minutes. You should wait until Nashville and try Edley's or Peg Leg Porker. Both are excellent. There is also Martin's in Mt. Juliet (just east of Nashville) or on in town. Not my favorite, but still very good.

It's a three hour trip....try something in Cookeville. You will have many outstanding choices.

We like the Sunset Restaurant in Lebanon. Mr Shallots really likes their fried chicken and the prices.

It is a reasonably priced, value for money, locals-love-it, not too far north of the interstate restaurant.
