Lucky Strike?

  • 9

Lucky Strike Chinese on Hawthorne.

I'm hoping some folks on CH can give me an idea whether this place is good enough to check out. I read about it somewhere and now I can't remember where. Whatever I read was enticing enough to make it to my list of places to try, but now that I am seriously contemplating going tomorrow night, I'm getting cold feet after reading some Yelp reviews. I can handle some spotty service issues, but bad smells in the restaurant or bad food is another issue.

Has anyone been?

  1. If Lucky Strike cigarettes are still in business, it is only a matter of time before the restaurant hears from their lawyers.

Except I think they have been around for several years and you'd think that would be enough time to discover them...

    2. Last time I was there about a year ago I was not at all impressed. The Guinness ribs were dry and more bone than meat...it was not a plate made by anyone who cares about food, if you know what I mean.

Thanks. We are going to Levant instead!

      2. I have never had a bad meal at Lucky Strike. The Ma Po Do Phu and Ants climbing a tree are outstanding. The Chili bath chicken is an experience you won't forget. It must be tried, if only once as it is quite spicy. It's not "normal" chinese food so be prepared for some fun.

Thanks - we were actually looking for "not normal" chinese food, so maybe we will check it out on our own one day.

        2. Happy hour there is the best way to test it out. After 9 i believe . Same size portions, half price.
