going to Puerto Rico first time since 1974

I lived in Puerto Rico when I was 6 and 7 and we are going back for the first time for vacation on may 1 (looong overdue vacation). We are staying at the Intercontinental. I know that there are some posts about where to go but I can't find anything more recent than 2011. We would like to go out to eat at every spectrum of the dining scene from true local to high end and in between. Does anybody have any suggestions? just FYI i lived in the Rio Piedras area and would love to visit there now.

I highly recommend a trip to Luquillo-- Balneario Monserrate and the food kiosks! You can combine it with the rainforest or biobay. I will make a post about my meals at the kiosks but to make a long story short we had excellent meals at both La Parilla and Terruno. If nothing else, you can stroll the line of kiosks and have snacks. It is a very unique and fun dining experience!

I have heard about those! I will definitely add it to my list as this sounds like something that we would really like to do for a day. Thanks.
