Thalassa, Maialino, Resto, etc. . . .or Jungsik? TriBeCa or vicinity.

I need to find a restaurant for SO. Preferably meat/lamb. Suitable for a business dinner. Open Monday. Neighborhood: TriBeCa, SoHo, vicinity (NO Financial District, Midtown, UES, UWS, etc.). Not Locande Verde or The Harrison. No Keens (location and SO didn't like their mutton). Easy to get/make a reservation.

This is my short list after doing a quick search of this Board (open to suggestions):

Thalassa (lamb shank on menu)

Resto (lamb and pork shoulder, etc. on menu, looks like it might NOT be appropriate for a business dinner?)

Maialino (SO has been and likes it)

Would appreciate your help. Also, I only eat poultry and fish . . .so I REALLY need your help for the meat eaters :)

Happy Easter! Thanks!

  1. Highly recommend Jungsik. The "choice menu" should work best for you.

Thanks, ellenost. Not going, just finding :)

The meat eaters should be happy too (I was, and am going back in less than 2 weeks).

        Thanks, kathryn. Resto won't work.

Have another suggestion to replace Resto?

American Cut has some prime time slots available for tomorrow (I assume this is for tomorrow, Monday the 21st). Just avoid the pastrami steak, I found it super salty, but my husband's steak was great.

Thanks, kathryn. I'll take a look at American Cut. Luckily, not for tomorrow. Tampa with short notice was alot more challenging than NYC.

Exploring menus. The NoMad doesn't look like the right fit for this dinner. Though, the menu looks delicious.

Thalassa is really a place to go for fish, I don't recommend it for any meat dishes. You make no preference, as far ethnic type of cuisine, but do mention business type environment. You rule out Locanda Verde and Harrison, but don't say why. So based on what information you offer. I love Jung Sik but I don't recommend it to you as I don't get the feeling that it will be right for you.
As long as American Cut was mentioned, I will recommend Wolfgang which has meat and fish and certainly a business environment.
Michael White's Costata in SoHo might also fit the bill.
Scalini fedeli might be good, it is a good business place and much much quieter than Locanda Verde ( which you didn't want). Tribeca Grill is simpler but nice environment, much nicer and better food than the Harrison ( which you didn't like). Btw I hate the harrison and I don't like LV because of the atmosphere and attitude.
Blaue Gans has both meat and fish, but might not be "fancy' enough.
Palm may be a possibility, the lobster is good there as well as the steak.
Bouley has choices for all, now that i think about it, that would be my top choice in Tribeca for you.

Thanks so much, foodwhisperer. SO doesn't what Costata. Just went to TriBeCa Grill so it's out. Couldn't get him in to Luger, Brooklyn with such short notice.

Now I'm thinking American Cut, Dylan Prime or maybe Ben & Jack's.

Just read this and another thread on steaks:

                1. re: financialdistrictresident

Thanks everyone. Appreciate all your suggestions.

Apparently they already went to Costata. I cancelled American Cut reservation (slim pickings re: time). SO liked Ben & Jack's menu over Dylan Prime and I was able to get a reservation easily (not sure if that is a good sign).

                  I'll report back.

In addition to the thread on "American Cut . . .", NOT "steaks," I found these:
