When do they start in our area?
I must admit that the sweet onions (the very large ones) are very gentle and sweet tasting indeed.
I sometimes wonder what the difference between the two actually is.

  1. True vidalias usually start being harvested around this time and you should see them in grocery stores soon.

There has been some scuttlebutt about the timing-the farmers wanted to pick last week, the onion commission wants to wait.

      Very interesting and informative.
      Many thanks.

    2. Yeah, I feel like Vidalia season used to matter when sweet onions were hard to find. Now that they are in stores year round, I'm not sure that I care about Vidalias versus other types. Anyone want to convince me otherwise?
