mcdonald's raised price of large coffee by 25+% -- no longer $1

alkapal Apr 19, 2014 01:25 AM

i predict sales will drop and they go back to $1 large coffee. large iced sweet tea still $1. maybe regular tea and sodas have gone up too. dang!

mr. alka says he'll start getting taco bell coffee -- because it is better, though still slightly more expensive for a smaller cup.

Those of us who are Officially Old can order a senior coffee at McD--price varies, but it can be as cheap at 70 cents. Not advertised, but we saw another geezer doing it, so we've been doing it ever since. Even with the "combo" meals, it's often cheaper to order an individual item & a senior coffee. Yeah, we revel in having saved a buck!

I don't frequent McD's often, but I do ask for the senior coffee when I'm out early and craving a sausage biscuit.
I'm also one of few movie theater patrons who ask for a senior discount for the Jackass movies - they make me howl with laughter.

Still $1 here in Southern CT, I drove by my local McDs about 20 minutes ago and the sign was in the window

too bad it costs you californians $5 a gallon to drive through for the $1 coffee!

so, i have hope mickey d's will come to their senses here in northern virginia.

In San Diego County; paid $4.059 per gallon (at Costco) on Saturday.

In March, I paid 55 cents for a Senior coffee at McDonalds. (Had a coupon to try the new pastries-good.)

Not me...this Connecticut Yankee is on the Atlantic Coast. Large coffee at McD $1.....big banner at the road and on the building today. Gas has spiked to $3.84 this week. Wed morning I'll go thrum the drive thru on my morning bike ride...no gas...pedal power $1 plus 6 cents tax

soft drinks are outrageous at McDs
                    $2.79 for a large soda..
                    Large Ice Tea $1
Any size regular hot or Iced Coffee $1

I often see people order the large Ice Tea, pay the $1 and go to the self serve beverage area and fill the cup with soda. Not honest, but commonplace

                      here in northern virginia:

                      all large sodas are $1.
regular coffee is $1 -- and large now has gone to $1.29.
sweet and unsweet tea are $1.

interesting to learn of the regional pricing variations.

by the way, for those tea scammers, they might want to know that soda cups are different from those used for iced tea. if people steal in little things, they'll steal in big things. ugh.

in this market many operators are no longer using the 'different' ice tea cups and use the same cup for large soda as ice tea

oh no! the iced tea cups don't sweat like the plastic soda cups.

you're correct, but #1 the soda cups are cheaper and #2 some of our municipalities don't permit styrofoam food packaging

It took me a long while to earn that senior coffee at McDs. And it is surprisingly good.

Plus their cup lasts forever with repeated free refills. Price varies here depending on which location.

The fact that refills are free is still a bad deal because you have to actually be inside a McDonalds for more than 5 minutes though.

I can't imagine them lowering the price of the coffee, given their recent revamp of the $1 menu.

Until 1950, you could still get a cup of coffee for a nickle, but diners and restaurants were losing 3 cents on every cup they sold. Most just kept watering the coffee down. When the price went up to a dime in '51, there practically riots in the streets. Nickle coffee was an American birthright, but now the price had DOUBLED to a whopping DIME. So if the choice is watery coffee or a couple cents more, I'm willing to pay more.

yes, they do have to pay higher rates for everything, so i understand. frankly, it is still a bargain at the new price -- and i like it better than charbucks coffee -- unless it is christmas blend.

Just came back from 3 days in Jacksonville and Daytona still $1 in that market.
